Happy Palm Sunday!

Holy Week has arrived. Today we celebrate the Lord’s entry into Jerusalem. Throughout the Gospels we hear of Jesus turning his attention to Jerusalem, that he is making his way to the holy city. Jesus continually sets his sight on Jerusalem, the City of David, not only because His Father’s dwelling is there in the Temple, but also because it is where He plans to accomplish his mission. In Jerusalem He will endure His Passion, He will suffer greatly, and He will rise. But first, we must join Him on this entry, we join Him in this procession where Hosanna is sung.

As we begin Holy Week I want to encourage everyone to read the daily Mass readings each day. These readings direct our hearts little by little the accomplishment of Jesus’ great work. In our own way, this Holy Thursday we can make our own little pilgrimage to visit each of the Catholic Churches in Flagstaff. After the Mass of the Lord’s Supper Our Lady of Guadalupe and Nativity will be open so that you can make your own little pilgrimage with the Lord as the Passion begins. There will be a priest at SFdA, NBVM, OLG, and the Newman to hear confessions until 10:00pm. I hope you can join us!

I look forward to seeing everyone at the liturgies this week. It is a wonderful time to be with the Lord in anticipation of His Resurrection.

¡Feliz Domingo de Ramos!

Ha llegado la Semana Santa. Hoy celebramos la entrada del Señor a Jerusalén. A lo largo de los evangelios escuchamos que Jesús dirige su atención a Jerusalén y que se dirige a la ciudad santa. Jesús continuamente pone su mirada en Jerusalén, la Ciudad de David, no sólo porque la morada de su Padre está allí en el Templo, sino también porque es donde planea cumplir su misión. En Jerusalén sufrirá su Pasión, sufrirá mucho y resucitará. Pero primero debemos unirnos a Él en esta entrada, unirnos a Él en esta procesión donde se canta Hosanna.

Al comenzar la Semana Santa, quiero animar a todos a leer las lecturas diarias de la Misa todos los días. Estas lecturas dirigen nuestro corazón poco a poco hacia la realización de la gran obra de Jesús. A nuestra manera, este Jueves Santo podemos hacer nuestra pequeña peregrinación para visitar cada una de las Iglesias Católicas en Flagstaff. Después de la Misa de la Cena del Señor Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y la Natividad estarán abiertas para que puedas hacer tu propia pequeña peregrinación con el Señor al comenzar la Pasión. Habrá un sacerdote en SFdA, NBVM, OLG y Newman Center para confesar hasta 10:00pm en Jueves Santo. ¡Espero que te puedas unir a nosotros!
