Happy Sunday!

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, the two great pillars of the Church. We do not often have the opportunity to celebrate this solemnity on a Sunday so it's a gift when this happens. In one way this day reminds us of the many ways in which God works. Through St. Peter, a fisher- man, God chooses to show his power and his desire to sustain the Church.

In St. Paul, the educated phar- isee and persecutor of Christians, we learn about humility and forgiveness. Of all the people God could have chosen to lead in establishing His Church, the fisherman and enemy of Christians have become the pillars. This becomes an encourage- ment for us. Doing God's work is not about having the perfect set of skills, it's about allowing Him to work in us.

Sts. Peter and Paul were so effective because of their humility in letting God work through them. They did not allow their shortcomings or backgrounds to become excuses or obstacles, rather they acknowledged their own littleness and let God increase in their lives. We pray that we may imitate them in this littleness so that God's work can always be done. Know of my prayers and have a great week!

Solemnidad de San Pedro y San Pablo

¡Feliz domingo!

Hoy la Iglesia celebra la Solemnidad de San Pedro y San Pablo, los dos grandes pilares de la Iglesia. No solemos tener la oportunidad de celebrar esta solemnidad en domingo, así que es un regalo cuando esto sucede. De alguna manera este día nos recuerda las muchas maneras en que Dios obra. A través de San Pedro, un pescador, Dios elige mostrar su poder y su deseo de sostener a la Iglesia.

En San Pablo, el fariseo culto y perseguidor de los cristia- nos, aprendemos sobre la humildad y el perdón. De todas las personas que Dios pudo haber elegido para guiar en el establecimiento de su Iglesia, el pescador y enemigo de los cristianos se ha converti- do en los pilares. Esto nos anima. Hacer la obra de Dios no se trata de tener las habilidades perfectas, sino de permitir que El obre en nosotros.

San Pedro y San Pablo fueron tan eficaces debido a su humil- dad al dejar que Dios trabajara a través de ellos. No permitieron que sus defectos ni sus antecedentes se convirtieran en excusas ni obstáculos, sino que reconocieron su propia pequeñez y dejaron que Dios creciera en sus vidas. Oremos para que poda- mos imitarlos en esta pequeñez para que la obra de Dios pueda realizarse siempre. ¡Sepan que oro por ustedes y que tengan una excelente semana!
