New Parochial Vicar / Advent Concert Fundraiser

Happy Sunday!

I hope everyone is doing well as we prepare for Thanksgiving. I have a number of exciting updates. First, you heard last weekend that Bishop Dolan is assigning us a new parochial vicar, Fr. Carlos Gomez, beginning on Fri, Dec 1. Fr. Gomez was the pastor of St. Augustine in Phoenix for the last 17 years. He is currently finishing his sabbatical and is looking forward to coming here.

As many of you know, there has been a wonderful effort over the last few years to work on the restoration of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary chapel downtown. I am very excited to announce that on Fri, Dec 15, we will have an Advent concert to benefit the restoration of Nativity. The concert is an Advent tradition called Lessons and Carols. It will consist of readings from scripture followed by an Advent hymn. The concert will begin at 7:30pm on the Fri, Dec 15. There is a suggested donation of $15-20 per person. I hope you can make it and join us for this beautiful evening for the benefit of a beautiful church.

On Sun, Dec 3, our seminarian, Joseph Nguyen, will be ordained a transitional deacon. Please keep him in your prayers as he prepares for this big day. It has been a great blessing to have Joseph with us this year!

As a reminder, Thanksgiving Day Mass will be at 10:00am on Thursday morning. I hope you all have a great week and a very happy Thanksgiving!
