Remember the deceased & the souls in Purgatory

11-05-2023Weekly ReflectionFr. Dan Connealy

Happy Sunday!

It’s good to be back from retreat and see everyone. Thank you so much for all of your prayers. In the week and a half before I left for my retreat I had four funerals. I want to offer a special thank you to all of our funeral volunteers. We have so many wonderful people dedicated to serving families in their time of grief. Many people give up weekday mornings to come and lector for a funeral or simply attend. In fact, at one of the funerals, the person who died only had her daughter and son in law present.

Even though there were only two family members, we probably had about ten more people from our community who didn’t know the person who had passed away. I was so moved to see so many people coming to support a family they didn’t know. This is truly a special parish. If you are interested in being a part of our funeral team please reach out to the parish office, we would love to have you!

During this month of November, we pray in a special way for our deceased loved ones as well as all the souls in Purgatory. We have a privileged role as the Church on earth to pray for those awaiting eternal life in heaven. Please keep all the deceased and all the souls in Purgatory in your prayers in a special way this month. I hope everyone has a great week and know of my prayers!
