Happy Easter!

He is risen! Today we celebrate the great Solemnity of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ! I grow in appreciation for Easter every year. It’s something you take at face value as a child. You hear, “Jesus died and rose from the dead.” As a child you hear it and that’s it. In my adult life, having faced death more and more, I understand the finality of it. It makes the Resurrection all that much more joyful and fantastic.

For myself, it seems every year I have the gift to ponder what it means to “rise from the dead” more and more. We learn from St. Paul that “the wages of sin is death”. In a way he is telling us that death is something that shouldn’t be, and yet, because of sin it has entered the world. But God, who always seeks after His children, desires to raise us to life. In this Easter season and coming year I would invite you to consider how God might be wanting to deepen your own understanding of the Resurrection and your desire for Eternal Life. God always has the last word and the eternal Word. We can also look at our lives and where we might feel things “dead” in our past, we can ask God to heal and resurrect them. Nothing is beyond his loving reach.

¡Felices Pascuas!

¡Él ha resucitado! ¡Hoy celebramos la gran Solemnidad de la Resurrección de Jesucristo! Cada año siento un mayor aprecio por la Pascua. Es algo que te tomas al pie de la letra cuando eres niño. Escuchas: “Jesús murió y resucitó de entre los muertos”. De niño lo escuchas y listo. En mi vida adulta, al haberme enfrentado cada vez más a la muerte, entiendo su finalidad. Hace que la Resurrección sea mucho más gozosa y fantástica.

Por mi parte, parece que cada año tengo el don de reflexionar cada vez más sobre lo que significa “resucitar de entre los muertos”. Aprendemos de San Pablo que “la paga del pecado es muerte”. En cierto modo nos está diciendo que la muerte es algo que no debería ser y, sin embargo, a causa del pecado ha entrado en el mundo. Pero Dios, que siempre busca a sus hijos, desea resucitarnos a la vida. En esta temporada de Pascua y el próximo año, te invito a considerar cómo Dios podría querer profundizar tu propia comprensión de la Resurrección y tu deseo de Vida Eterna. Dios siempre tiene la última palabra y la Palabra eterna. También podemos mirar nuestras vidas y cuando podamos sentir cosas “muertas” en nuestro pasado, podemos pedirle a Dios que las sane y resucite. Nada está más allá de su amoroso alcance.

Ruego que cada uno de ustedes tenga una Pascua muy bendecida y pueda compartir tiempo con sus familiares y seres queridos. ¡Conoce mis oraciones siempre!
