Happy Divine Mercy Sunday!

This Sunday is the last day in the Octave of Easter. I want to offer a big thank you to all of our volunteers and staff who made Holy Week and Easter Sunday such a success! On Holy Thursday we opened Nativity and OLG for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. It was great to see so many people making a pilgrimage around Flagstaff. I am especially grateful to our sacristans who helped decorate the altars. I also want to thank the Knights of Columbus and Porters of St. Joseph who were present to make sure we had a safe evening. Our choirs, ushers, and church decorators who gave a lot of their time and energy to make our liturgies beautiful, and I am especially thankful to them as well.

We welcomed 14 people into the church at the Easter Vigil, thanks to Michael Vollmer, Cathy Carlsen, Katherine Buckley, and Kathy Manser and their teams of volunteers who journeyed with these newly baptized over the past months. Please keep in prayer our young people who will receive their First Communion and Confirmation next weekend. We are glad to welcome Bishop Nevares for this very special occasion.

Finally, this weekend is Fr. Carlos’ last weekend here at SFdA. He will be beginning as the pastor at St. Daniel the Prophet parish in south Scottsdale. Please keep him in your prayers during this time of transition. I am grateful for all the support he has offered us in these past few months. It has been a short stay for him but I am incredibly grateful for the time we had together here in Flagstaff. Please keep our new parochial vicar, Fr. Michael Gilbert in your prayers as he prepares to come here on July 1.

¡Feliz Domingo de la Divina Misericordia!

Este domingo es el último día de la Octava de Pascua. ¡Quiero ofrecer un gran agradecimiento a todos nuestros voluntarios y personal que hicieron que la Semana Santa y el Domingo de Pascua fueran un éxito! El Jueves Santo abrimos Natividad y OLG para la adoración del Santísimo Sacramento. Fue fantástico ver a tanta gente peregrinando por Flagstaff. Estoy especialmente agradecido a nuestros sacristanes que ayudaron a decorar los altares. También quiero agradecer a los Caballeros de Colón y a los Porteadores de San José que estuvieron presentes para asegurarse de que tuviéramos una velada segura. Nuestros coros y ujieres dieron mucho tiempo y energía para hacer hermosas nuestras liturgias y les estoy especialmente agradecido también.

Dimos la bienvenida a la iglesia a 14 personas en la Vigilia Pascual, gracias a Michael Vollmer, Cathy Carlsen, Katherine Buckley y Kathy Manser y sus equipos de voluntarios que viajaron con estos recién bautizados durante los últimos meses. Por favor mantengan en oración a nuestros jóvenes que recibirán su Primera Comunión y Confirmación el próximo fin de semana. Nos complace darle la bienvenida al obispo Nevares en esta ocasión tan especial.

Finalmente, este fin de semana es el último fin de semana de Padre Carlos aquí en SFdA. Comenzará como párroco de la parroquia San Daniel el Profeta en el sur de Scottsdale. Por favor mantenlo en tus oraciones durante este tiempo de transición. Agradezco todo el apoyo que nos ha ofrecido en estos últimos meses. Ha sido una estadía corta para él, pero estoy increíblemente agradecido por el tiempo que pasamos juntos aquí en Flagstaff. Por favor mantenga a nuestro nuevo vicario parroquial, el Padre Michael Gilbert en sus oraciones mientras se prepara para venir aquí el 1 de julio.
